Today I’m making an easy recipe for a popular Korean street food trend. This Korean cream cheese garlic bread is so good and easy to make at home. The cream cheese and the buttery garlic bread pair well for a treat. A perfect starter or party dish to serve! Enjoy!!

Here I’m baking a French bread. French bread has a crispy crust on the outside and is soft, fluffy inside. Once you make this easy recipe, you’ll never go back to store-bought loaves. It is the perfect complement to any meal, hence I’m pairing it with cream cheese and garlic sauce to make this incredible and scrumptious starter. Please scroll down to see my best tips on how to make French bread perfectly.

Do try it out and let me know how it turned out to be! Please leave your valuable feedback as comments below.

French Bread :
Ingredients:
1 cup luke warm water (40 C)
1 tsp sugar
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
1 tsp salt
2 1/2 cups all-purpose white flour ( at least 11% or above protein content)

Cream Cheese Filling:
200g cream cheese (room temperature)
60ml whipping cream
3 tsp icing sugar

Garlic Sauce:
100g melted unsalted butter
1 egg
2 and 1/2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp fresh cream or whipping cream
3 tbsp crushed parsley
3 tbsp minced garlic
3 tsp mayonnaise

Tips and Notes:
1. Weigh your ingredients in grams or ounces. For a perfect bread this is a must.
2. All purpose flour vs bread flour: A perfect bread need a flour that has higher protein content. That is 11% or above. Bread flour is perfect choice for this. However if you are unable to find one, you can opt for all purpose flour but do look out for higher protein content on the packaging.
3. Yeast will be killed if salt lays DIRECTLY on top of it. Hence never add salt to yeast and stir. Add them at different stages.
4. Use luke warm water only (around 40 C/110 F). Yeast needs warmth to activate but too much heat is not advisable too, as it will do the opposite. Kill the yeast!
5. Add your liquid slowly until you see your dough come together. Never add too much liquid!
6. Dough and air are not best friends! Quite the opposite, actually. Do not leave the dough uncovered for long periods of time at any stage of the bread making process. Air coming in contact with your dough will cause a skin will form. If a skin develops, it’s really hard for your dough to rise sufficiently. Hence cover with cling wrap or a wet towel.
7. Proofing is an important step in the bread making process. This stage ensures your dough will rise to its full potential and that your crumb will be formed correctly.
8. Steam is a very important element when baking bread and shouldn’t be overlooked because it is an extra step. Steam in the oven while baking creates a crunchy crust. Also, shine in my opinion. You can easily create steam in a domestic oven at home.
For forming steam : Place a shallow baking pan with some hot water on the bottom rack of your oven during the preheating. Leave it in there for roughly 20-25 minutes or so for the initial stage of baking. Then you can remove it so you will form a thick crust.
9. Never open the oven door within the first 20 minutes of baking, it won’t allow for “oven spring.” Oven spring is the first rise of the bread in the oven and it’s incredibly important. Please keep that oven door closed and the heat in. This is a must in bread making.
