As opposed to a pandemic, here the spread of the disease is more local. While a pandemic is quote “prevalent throughout an entire country, continent, or the whole world”, here the problem is more restrained to a smaller region. That’s why covid 19 is a Pandemic. So how do you go about pronouncing this word correctly? Simply: epidemic. Epi meaning ‘upon’, and then demic, from Greek ‘demos’ meaning people. Something falling ‘upon people’.
