The sacrament of the Lord’s Supper is a core spiritual practice of the Christian tradition. In Community of Christ, although physically separated, we are able to celebrate communion together through livestream services simultaneously. This Sunday, disciples in hundreds of separate, self-isolating locations came together to experience this sacrament together during our Beyond the Walls service. Seventy JoAnn Fisher of Boise, Idaho, USA, offered the blessing on the bread and the bishop of Canada, Dar Shepherdson of Victoria Harbour, Ontario, gave the blessing on the wine.

April 5th is Palm Sunday and the beginning of the Holy Week, leading up to Easter when Christians commemorate the Passion story of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Becky Savage of Lee’s Summit, Missouri brings the spoken word on the text of Matthew 21:1-11 and the theme: “Enter with Jesus.”

Robin Linkhart of Longmont, Colorado gives the Disciple’s Generous Response and Rob Heverling of Buffalo, New York, offers our Prayer for Peace. The meditation is led by Charmaine Chvala-Smith of Independence, Missouri. Kahealani Drollet reads our lectionary text from Brussels, Belgium, and Amanda Vanaa, gives our Call to Worship from Tahiti, French Polynesia.

Michael Karpowicz provides ministry of music from Centre Place in Toronto, aided by our global Beyond the Walls choir. Also from Toronto John Hamer conducts the service and Leandro Palacios welcomes everyone joining from Beyond the Walls. Many thanks again to livestream support from Parker Johnson of Calgary, Alberta.

These services are also be available on our website www.centreplace.ca.

Experience a non-dogmatic and non-judgmental church service open to interfaith and skeptical perspectives. We reject literal interpretations of scripture and approach the Bible in context: authors, audiences, purposes, and goals, hoping to find new insight and value.

We welcome all ages, gender identities, gender expressions, religious backgrounds, religious affiliations, spiritual types, political leanings, educational levels, financial capacities, and physical abilities.

Our mission is to invite everyone into community, to continually learn & grow, to abolish poverty & end needless suffering, to pursue peace everywhere, and to live life meaningfully together.
