What happens when an ordinary farm boy allows God to transform his life into a mission of mercy?
This is the inspiring story of Saint John Eudes, the French priest who dedicated his life to revealing the love hidden in the Heart of Jesus.
Born in France in 1601, John became a priest and soon discovered that his calling was not simply to preach—but to bring healing, mercy, and hope.
During terrible plagues, while many people fled, John went toward the sick and dying. To protect others from infection, he even lived alone in a large wine barrel in a field while caring for plague victims.
Later, he travelled throughout France preaching missions and helping countless people return to God through prayer and confession.
But John recognized another urgent need: the Church needed well-formed and holy priests. He founded the Eudists, a community dedicated to the formation of priests.
His compassion also extended to women who were abandoned and trapped in difficult circumstances. He helped establish a community dedicated to offering them dignity, care, healing, and a new beginning.
Saint John Eudes believed that the world needed hearts transformed by God’s love.
❤️ A heart like the Heart of Jesus.
His life reminds us that holiness isn’t simply about praying more.
It is about allowing God’s love to flow through us toward others.
🙏 Saint John Eudes, pray for us.
May our hearts become places where others encounter God’s mercy, compassion, and love.
