Chana Chaat or Dahi Chana Chaat (چناچاٹ) is a Desi version of salad. Its basic ingredient is chickpeas or chana in which onions, tomatoes, green chilies and coriander are added, but if you want variation you can add boiled diced potatoes and yoghurt (sweetened or salty) as the supporting characters finished off with chaat masala and lemon juice for that necessary spice and khataas, then top it off with imli chutney and papri. The yogurt here will provide a cooling contrast to that spicy chaat masala. That’s the perfect Desi chaat bowl to rival any burrito bowl out there!
Recipe Notes:
Chickpeas can be boiled in advance, and can be stored in the freezer. If you want tonenjoy chana chaat regularly (or specially for Ramadan), it’s a good idea to boil a big batch and make packets in the freezer. Just thaw and use as needed.
