I want to separate the library and reading area from the entertainment area. I’m thinking something basic like slatted wood to allow light through. Would that look halfway decent here, or should I keep as is?

I think a screen is a lovely choice here
I wouldn’t run slats across the whole back of the sofa. The windows are doing most of the work in this room, and a full divider would make the desk side feel boxed in. A narrow 30–36 inch slatted panel aligned with the sofa arm could define the reading area without cutting the light or the walking path.
I think that’s a great idea! A natural wood one would look lovely
