A blend of Macabeu, Muscat d’Alexandrie, and Muscat à Petits Grains
Purchased at Henry’s Wine and Spirits in Brooklyn, NY
**Nose:** The intensity of the aromas is very good: a core of golden apples, orange blossom, apricot, and gingerly spice, interwoven with some salinity and garrigue herbaceousness coming through. The maceration on the wine lends itself to the saline and fruit qualities on the nose.
**Palate:** Viscous and textured, the orchard and citrus fruit are still present here with some new notes like papaya and clove. Medium-bodied, medium acidity, this wine is brimming with youthful energy and has some sense of structure behind it, but I wouldn’t say there was much in the way of range/complexity or depth. A solid expression, though admittedly the easiest case of drinking way before it’s ready.
**Additional Thoughts:** Before I am massacred for not being over the moon with this, I do think there are some positive qualities to this like the intensity of the aromas, the brightness of fruit expression (almost crystalline in a way), and the general flavor profile. But I feel like the ceiling for this isn’t really there. And while others here can wax poetic about this or Tom’s wines, today, that will not be me or this review. Solid, but maybe for another time or another person.
