Just push it in and filter it or lift a few chunks out of the wine.

Instead of pulling it **out** of the bottle, just poke it **into** the bottle. And then pour the wine through a strainer to make sure you get any small cork bits out.

As u/Visible_Pop2237 says, just push it in and strain it out.
A cork fish will retrieve the large chunks that are pushed in.
Get a Durand for opening older bottles.

Those automatics are bad news for older and/or special bottles. The double hinged waiters cork screw will handle most bottles pretty well. If it’s something 10-15 years old I’ll probably go for the ah-so for more insurance, and a Durand if it’s really critical
