We are currently in the process of renovating a Scandinavian wooden house from the early 1900s. A lot remains, but at least we've settled on the color for the living room – orange! More precisely it's Ochre Clay from Jotun. The floors will be sanded down, and treated with a sheer, white-ish color, to prevent too much yellowing in the wood.
The room is a little oddly shaped, as the house has been extended over the years. Basically, the room split nearly in half, openings and trims here and there. All walls painted with orange swatches, are part of the same room.
We will have our couch, TV and books in the innermost room, and the a small fireplace and more shelves in the outter part. From the outter part, you can access the kitchen and the dining room. The adjacent dining room, seen partially in picture 4, will be painted yellow.
Basically, we've decided upon the wall color. But we're having a hard time deciding what color to paint the trims (and ceiling). White would be easy. But also a little boring. Does anyone have any suggestions of what colors might look nice?
Tldr; what color can we paint our trims, if we don't want them to be white?
