Michigan wine has come a long way, that’s for sure. The Stranger Pinot Noir at 93 sounds like the real winner of the bunch, and a 90 on the Pinot Gris from the same place means they’re doing something right on the Leelanau Peninsula. I tried some Fenn Valley stuff a few years back and their Chardonnays were solid for the price, so an 87 on the True Chardonnay tracks with my experience.

The Modales Lamastus label caught my attention because Lamastus is a name I usually associate with Boquete in Panama, where they make those big bold Alvis wines. Did you find this one had any of that tropical fruit character, or did it lean more toward the cool climate Michigan profile? Curious if that name is just a nod or if there’s actual fruit from somewhere warmer in the blend.
