Our house was built in 2004 and has two alcoves built in. Pretty sure it was for the chunky TVs back in the day. We have tossed some ideas around for what to do but I’d love any ideas for how we can really make the space fun/interesting.

If you have a pet I’d totally turn the bottom one into a little pet alcove.

Add doors to the top for storage. OR a hidden tiny christmas village with a tree in the center behind a a painting, a whole little magical world no one knows is there.

If you own: I’d knock out the middle section to make it one cohesive nook for bookshelves or an enclosed storage cabinet.

If you rent: I’d put records on shelves in the bottom and a record player and some art on top.

ARGHHH. Another TV above the freaking fireplace. Sheesh.

If you cannot turn them into a built in bookcase, would get two big picture frames and build hinges to make them doors that look like paintings. You now have a great storage option.

They’re so deep… What is on the other side of this space?

What’s the floor plan look like for the wall alcove space to be that deep? Is it taking space from a room behind it?

Either the “knock out the middle section and create a built in bookcase” idea from the other post or drywall over it from that side and see how it can be used from the other side? Assuming that’s not an outside wall.
