I went to Kroger for a bag of chips.
Instead, I came home with a perfectly ripe Willoughby washed-rind cheese and suddenly a bottle of Trimbach Gewurztraminer on my wine rack started making sense.
This is one of the great wine pairings that doesn’t get talked about enough.
Gewurztraminer, with its exotic aromas of lychee, flowers and spices, loves pungent washed-rind cheeses. The richer and funkier the cheese, the happier the wine.

🍷 Trimbach Gewurztraminer from Alsace
🥖 Homemade bread
🧈 French butter
🥒 Cornichons
And one beautiful Nashville evening on the balcony.
The cheese was so ripe it deserved its own wine.
