Big fan of Domaine Jamet so was curious to try this new CDR 2024.
Not easy to find overall.
Also got the white version which very curious to try as well.
Usually only drink the Cote rôties versions which are always fantastic!
Overall a little bit disappointed.
Not much happening on the nose aside from some leather notes. Quite closed which is not surprising for entry level young Syrah.
Very easy to drink. Light, refreshing, lot of blackberry notes and some metallic notes which are quite pleasant.
The structure of the wine is there, and you might recognize the Jamet style but all the elements that makes the Cote rôties fantastic are absent here.
Like a structure without the notes that hits well.
Totally normal, it’s a different league of wine but was expecting a bit more.
Paid about $50 for it which makes it a pretty low QPR in my opinion and don’t recommend if you expect to taste the magnificence of the Jamet Cote Rôtie.
Other CDR are better value, but for $50 I drink something else entirely.

These wines are dynamite after one to two years. Considering you’re getting a baby Rotie 100% Syrah at $40-50 it’s a great deal.
