I just finished a redo of my finished basement turned what was Americana from the 90's to more modern but am debating if I should have my stained ceilings and beams painted white. It's a huge room so difficult to photograph. There is a white French door on the opposite side. The walls in the room with the couch are SW Sea Salt while the adjoining room is Alabaster. This is the current look. Opinions? Thanks!

Painted makes it look more spacious and airy. The dark ceiling makes it look more like a basement
I really enjoy warm, cozy spaces so I would consider improving the lighting and changing out the ceiling light for something nicer before painting the ceiling. I find the white to be too glaring and cold.
Are you asking if you should turn the lights on? Start with turning the lights on.
White for sure. I like having the floor be the darkest thing.
