Hey r/wine ๐Ÿ‘‹

I'm a solo developer and I built Wine AI because I kept standing in wine aisles completely lost โ€” no idea what I was picking up, whether it'd go with dinner, or if it was even worth the price.

So I made an app that lets you scan any wine label and get:

Taste profile, aromas, body, acidity & tannins explained in plain English

Food pairing suggestions for that specific wine

Grape variety, region & serving temperature

A personal collection to track wines you've tried

An AI sommelier you can actually ask questions ("what pairs with this for a steak dinner?")

[I'm attaching a quick demo video so you can see exactly what it does]

It's free to try on iPhone: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/wine-ai-scanner-sommelier/id6746680887

I'm genuinely looking for feedback from people who actually know wine โ€” what's missing, what's wrong, what would make this actually useful for you. Thanks ๐Ÿท

  1. Raspberries-Are-Evil

Is it free? Or does it spam me with ads and eventually ask for a โ€œpremiumโ€ subscription?

  2. b1ackfyre

is it an AI wrapper? can’t I just take a pic of a bottle of wine via chatgpt, gemini, etc. and it’ll give me the same information but for free?

  3. Nice but self promote is not possible here, so this post will be locked.

I also made wine related apps but my recommendation is not to use AI for it. Cause everybody can use AI apps directly and get generic Wine info. You need to create some specific information these days, for example your video says “19 Crimes offers an excellent value for money” this is classic AI, but people in this sub mostly hates 19 Crimes and that type of wine.
