This room is a work in progress. When we first moved in ~year ago, we got a random assortment of free/low cost furniture and a few pieces we like. We now want to finish the room. It is a rental, so we won't be making any changes to the carpet/curtains/etc.
This is where we eat most meals/hangout/have people over. We have another room (through the double doors) with a sofa, tv, bookshelves, and desk.
One challenge is that the wall with the window has very thick baseboards, so nothing can actually go completely against the wall. Another is that there is a weird empty space behind the door that opens into the room. It is kept open 90% of the time, so the empty space is covered, but we do close the door when we are playing music or are generally being loud to muffle the sound for our neighbors.
We are planning on getting rid of the Ikea tall set of drawers by the door – the drawers don't work and I don't like that it can't sit against the wall. Behind our dining table, where there is currently a large white bookshelf, we are thinking of adding another matching bookshelf or replacing it with some kind of buffet/sideboard.
Any tips/feedback would be appreciated!
