I continue to maintain that Burgess is amongst the best values in Napa today.

While people love to say Napa is overpriced and overrated, it's hard to argue against this wine, which massively outkicks its coverage as a sub-$40 bottle.

Brought a bottle down to San Diego to visit a dear friend and his kids.

Decanted and drank over 90 minutes.

Approachable out of the bottle, but the air really helps balance out the tannins.

Loads of dark fruit, dark cherry, blueberry, plum, graphite.

Balanced acidity and tannins.

This is a great wine to drink on its own, but can stand up to food as well.

This will probably age well, but hard to resist now.

91 points.

Some of their bottlings are in West Coast closeout shops currently and have been for a number of years – extreme discounts to official list prices

People’s opinions take a long time to update. And in the last few years, Napa was the hottest appellation, and prices kept going up. But I expect it to cool down significantly in the next few years, and prices should come back down.

Now the question when it comes to Napa value will soon become – who’s prices will crash faster? Napa or Bordeaux?
