This week at Château de Saint-Germain-des-Prés in the Dordogne, we update the kitchen cabinets. If you’ve been following along, you know this space has needed some love for a while.

After all that hard work, we rewarded ourselves the right way: a chef-prepared meal using local Périgord ingredients, eaten in the kind of relaxed, unhurried way that France does so well.

Then we got out of the grounds and explored our corner of the southwest, including the extraordinary village of Saint-Émilion for a proper wine tasting. If you’ve never been, this UNESCO-listed wine town is one of the most beautiful places in France, and the wines… well, we think the video speaks for itself.

Whether you’re dreaming of château life, planning a trip to the Dordogne or Bordeaux wine country, or just here for a slow, beautiful escape from your day, we’re glad you found us.

Welcome to Château de Saint-Germain-des-Prés, our 500-year-old home in Southwest France’s Dordogne region.

We’re Sara & Stephen, creative retreat hosts building a life where creativity shows up in everything we do. He’s an artist, and we both believe everyone is more creative than they think.

What We Share:
This is our take on château life: hosting art retreats and creative workshops, watching transformations unfold, learning restoration and interior design as we make spaces beautiful for our guests, embracing slow living in rural France, and discovering that creativity isn’t about being an artist. It’s about finding joy in how you approach everything.

You’ll See:
Behind the scenes of our retreat experiences, the real work of creating magical moments, our learning curve with this 500-year-old building, authentic French culture as we live it, and what happens when people discover their own creativity in Southwest France.

Whether you’re curious about château life, drawn to creative exploration, dreaming of France, or just love watching people build something meaningful, welcome to our community.

The perfect pairing of creative journeys and bespoke château experiences.
