Would really love some advice on what kind of rug to get for this weird layout.
We just (unexpectedly) had to replace all our flooring, and chose this beautiful acacia, and I love it. We don’t have the budget to change our couch, and this layout is really the only one that works well for the room comfort-wise.
So I bought a new rug, hoping to make everything feel cozy, but the color and size just feels so wrong and is bugging me. I know I can use this rug in another room perfectly, so I’m on the hut for something that fits better.
Is the size too small? Should I get something that reaches all the way to the console? Would it end up feeling like this room is cut off from the other room? How do I pick a color that works with this wild wood?? Any help appreciated!

Could you put the sofa under the other window and put the tv and media cabinet at an angle in the corner opposite of where it currently is?
