If I did it I would add some curtains to hide the overlap. If that’s a bad idea, how should I design this living room? It’s connected to the kitchen, so it might feel awkward in other configurations.
I don’t think you can. If you show the rest of the space, there are very aesthetically gifted people here who can help you. But I think the rest of the space needs to be seen, also what are your seating needs?

Try adding a wall to wall curtain there with the tv on a stand in front. The curtains can be opened over both windows, but leaving the panels behind the tv closed.
