At the very top of the appellation stand two Second Growth estates that many consider First Growth in all but name: Château Ducru-Beaucaillou and Château Léoville Las Cases.

I’ve only had a 1988 Ducru-Beaucaillou and it was very savory with not much fruit left. Enjoyable nonetheless
No question is Leoville las Cases. Definitely the first growth that never was
