I’m testing the new instant soup trend that’s taking over the Appalachian Trail this year. We try Dottie Foods instant soup creating a French onion trail concoction. Watch to find out if the hype is real!

  1. This is not new. Just carry Lipton soup mixes. It's cheaper at $1.99 per box …. also dehydrate some cheese and croutons and you are done.

  2. Also, try beef/chicken bone broth soup sticks (peppered jerky) and some dried veggies that you dehydrated and some instant flavors potato mix… yummy

  3. One of my favorite trail meals: Lipton soup mix with instant potatoes and a pouch of chicken. Amazing and filling!

  4. You can still have a chili Frito pie with powdered chili soup a small bag of Frito corn chips dehydrated cheese and a small pouch of microwavable rice.

  5. Was that price just under $9!? Dang, I don't eat meals that expensive at home unless it's a special occasion.
Not a jab – but maybe if one only camps/backpacks only a few times a year, that would qualify as a special occasion.
And now thinking about this, I myself would fall into that category.
