Tonight we are making some delicious vegetarian french onion soup. Thank you for joining us on our culinary adventure.
Ingredients:
2 yellow onions
2 cloves of garlic
1/8 ounce thyme- divided
2 pads unsalted butter
2 Tbsp flour
1/3 cup dry sherry wine
1 Tbsp vegetarian Worcestershire sauce
about 2 cups vegetable stock and 2 cups water
4 slices sourdough bread
2 ounces shredded gruyere cheese
olive oil, salt, pepper
Recipe: Preheat oven 450 degrees
Lightly oil bread on one side and bake for 5-7 min
Thinly slice onions and mince garlic
Strip 2 sprigs of thyme
Heat butter over med-high heat until it foams
Add onions, garlic & whole thyme springs- sauté about 8 min until light brown
Add flour, stir 1 min then add Worcestershire sauce & cook stirring continuously until thickened- 1 min
Season- salt/pepper
Add vegetable stock and water to pot- cook about 12 min
To pot with soup add toasted bread and gruyere cheese
Bake 2-3 min
Sprinkle remaining stripped thyme on top and serve
