In 2026 we’re not wasting food! If you’ve got bread that’s about to turn, turn it into freezer French toast instead of freezing the loaf and hoping future you figures it out.
Here’s exactly how I do it:
✨ Custard
• 4 cups milk
• 4 eggs
• Splash of vanilla
• Dash of cinnamon
Whisk together. Start here, you can always make more if needed.
✨ Cook
• Dip each slice for just a couple seconds (don’t oversoak or it gets mushy).
• Cook in butter over medium heat until golden on both sides.
• A griddle is faster, but a large skillet works just fine.
✨ Freeze
• Let French toast cool completely.
• Lay flat on a sheet pan with parchment so slices don’t stick.
• Freeze until solid.
• Transfer back into the bread bag with small pieces of parchment between each slice.
✨ Reheat
• Toast on LOW.
• It may take 1–2 cycles depending on your toaster.
• Heat until warmed all the way through.
Future you now has breakfast handled.
No waste. No extra thinking.
Save this for the next time your bread is on borrowed time. 🥲

Zero waste! Great taste! 🤜🏾🤛🏾
Rebecca, you're a genius! This is why I LOVE your content!
😢 cheap bread –
I freeze ingredients but that’s because I have the freezer space, normally it’s what I gardened during the summer. I preserve with freezing because I know I’ll get botulism from self canned goods knowing my luck. No hate to people who know and are comfortable with canning I’ll eat your goods I’m just not confident doing it myself. I freeze bread, onions, garlic, just get freezer safe reusable bags to cut down on waste
Great idea
I love buying frozen foods just for the convenience but wow those frozen French toast at the supermarket I am so expensive so good call on doing this thank you
Clever!!
Great Tip
Loooooooooooooooove this!
Amazing! Praise God!!
Brilliant 🎉
Another use is making bread pudding and eating or freezing. Similar ingredients.
Have done this many times, and it is wonderfully delicious go-to recipe to conserve food. Thanks for sharing!
It's burnt
Or make croutons. Your recipe uses way too much milk. It should be third cup milk or cream per egg. You also need brown sugar, vanilla, salt and cinnamon.
I love the comment section on this channel. So many people sharing helpful tips it’s just soooo nice here 🤧
Great way to use up bread and milk! I had a couple sub rolls and they were moldy. I cried. I don't like freezing bread.
If you don't like how the cinnamon clumps/want a more even distributed cinnamon start with the vanila extract and cinnamon. Mix it until the cinnamon and vanilla extract become incorporated. Then add the milk rest of the ingredients.
That seems like a lot of milk for 4 eggs.
Great idea!… Cut them up and you will have French toast dipping sticks❤
Quick note about the French toast ratio in this video (1 egg per 1 cup of milk), since I’ve seen a few concerns about it. This ratio is intentional and creates a creamier custard that soaks into the bread, giving a softer texture with crispy edges that’s closer to bread pudding or milk toast rather than the more egg-forward style many recipes use. Cooking is full of different ratios and techniques depending on the texture and flavor you want, and this is simply the version I personally enjoy making and eating.
I used to keep my bread in the freezer too back in college. I would only take out what I needed for breakfast and to make a sandwich for lunch at school each day. I was a broke student and every penny was counted back then. I miss the 90's.
Such a great ideal. Definitely doing going forward.
