🧀🏔️ Savoyard food in the French Alps

On this trip I tried some iconic Savoyard dishes that truly amazed me — from osso buco with crozets risotto at La Marmite in Les Menuires, to my first ever fondue savoyarde in Val Thorens (with wild garlic!), and a beautiful assortment of local cheeses at a cozy farm-style spot, La Ferme de la Choumette. And yes… the génépi digestive was strong but unforgettable 😂

Savoyard cuisine comes from the mountain regions of Savoie and Haute-Savoie, created by shepherds and farmers who needed warm, filling food during long alpine winters. Expect melted cheeses, potatoes, charcuterie, and rustic bread — simple ingredients turned into comforting dishes made for sharing.

✨ Must-try Savoyard classics:
• Fondue savoyarde
• Raclette
• Tartiflette
• Croûte savoyarde
• Diots de Savoie (local sausages)
• Crozets pasta dishes
• Assortiment de fromages savoyards
• Génépi digestive

Would you start with fondue or raclette? 🧀✨
