👑ABOUT THIS VIDEO 🏰 💖:
Today we’re diving into a very special DIY château renovation as we transform our Regency-inspired bedroom with hand-painted decorative panels, gilding, and neoclassical medallions. ✨
In this episode, we’re also visiting our wonderful friends Terry and Ash at the beautiful Château de Lalacelle, where we undertake a huge faux marble painting project on the baseboards of their grand salon. What starts as a simple decorative painting project quickly becomes a stunning transformation inspired by classic European interiors. How will we celebrate? Bring on the karaoke!
Back at our own château, we show you exactly how we’re creating the Bridgerton-inspired Chatelains’ Suite, including:
• Designing custom medallions
• Cutting stencils using a laser cutter
• Hand-painting decorative panels
• Adding gilding and neoclassical details
• Installing paneling in our historic bedroom
This room has been a true labour of love, and we can’t wait to share the progress as we get closer to revealing the finished space.
Along the way we also:
🌹 enjoy the first signs of spring in the château garden
📦 unbox our handmade Chateau Love ornaments
🎨 collaborate on DIY projects with friends
🥂 and share a little château life in France.

ABOUT US:
Bonjour! I’m Vivienne, an artist, designer, antique & vintage jewelry dealer, and also the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful husband, Simon, our daughter, and —whenever possible— lovely friends and family.

This is not our first chateau! 26 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, after 2 decades, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and —of course— antiques and art!

We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us. We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!

  1. Greetings guys 👋 wishing yal a happy spring. It's a beautiful autumn here in South Africa 🇿🇦 😍 ❤ ♥ 😊 💙

  2. Vivian, I have to say that you have the most talent and design sense of any of the Chateau owners. Your taste is exquisite. I am obsessed with all your rooms, but I have total envy of your cream and black bedroom. It just so happened that I was redoing my spare bedroom when I saw that video, so it inspired me to incorporate some of those ideas into that bedroom, and now it is one of my favourite rooms in my smallish condo.

  3. You and Simon are a great team, and how nice to have your sister and neice there to help🥂 I love your artwork at Terry and Ash's. What a talent!!

  4. Good afternoon to you both 🌞🌷🐦🪺✝️ spring is in the air🐣🐥🐤 Love the stenciling! You both are so talented, so creative! You have such artist eyes and what you think on ,you can create so beautifully! Thank you for sharing❤️🤗

  5. Wow, what a wonderful video. Loved all the variety of creative projects, family and friends, laughter, singing. Chateau Love all the way 👍 ❤

  6. Hi from one of your chateau love ,lovies your dedication to helping Terry and Ash with their floorboards turned out absolutely beautiful. You’re not only talented but a wonderful teacher. Terry will be able to use his education to do more wonderful work in his château. Thank you for that and Simon helping too. Your Château bedroom is coming along beautifully, but then I wouldn’t expect anything less from you too. You have a wonderful weekend. Thank you for all your help for everyone that you do for. Cuddles and hugs sent your way. Thank you again for a wonderful video and thank you to your sister and niece.

  7. Really enjoyed this video! Lovely to see your sister and niece there! Looking forward to seeing the work on the mirror!

  8. Wow you guys are putting a lot of work into those panels it's going to be stunning. Thank you for the clip at the pub I was disappointed when Terry didn't show it. Glad you all had so much fun.💝💝💖

  9. Vivian, my tools for marbling include a badger softening brush, sword liner or feather for the veining and a natural sea sponge, I prefer to work with oils and would make a glaze of boiled linseed oil and white spirits (half and half) and a cap full of terabine driers as well as artists oils. Handovers in North London have all the tools for marbling. I did a professional course on this and these were the tools we were taught to use to do marbling. You did a great job, it looks fantastic. Love watching you do crafty things..

  10. Love Simon's understated British mumbling! 😊You both are so talented–fun to watch 👍👍

  11. Good morning, lovelies from Jo, Aotearoa, New Zealand. The sun is also shining brightly here.🌞
    Hellayluyah!
It's fabulous to see your gorgeous Chateau Christmas decorations have arrived & your collaboration with the boys & Tracy. It's so exciting.
    Much love to all.
    💫🙏❤️💫

  12. So lovely, both of you so skilled and talented. Looking forward to more videos. Have a great week. God bless!!!
On the marble trim, keep it dark, it stabilizes the room. Love to see colleagues working together, melts my heart.
