French Onion Chicken In The Crockpot!
Ingredients:
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 stick unsalted butter (cut into pats)
2 yellow onions (thinly sliced)
10.5 oz. can French onion soup
2 C. Chicken broth
1/2 C. heavy cream
1 tsp. smoked paprika
1 tsp. black pepper
2 Tbsp. minced garlic
1 packet Dan-O’s French Onion Seasoning (or liptons onion soup mix)
1 1/2 C. freshly grated gruyere cheese
6 slices aged Swiss cheese
Chopped Parsley for garnish
Directions:
Preheat your crockpot. Plug it in set to high.
Slice the onions thinly.
Add the onions to the bottom of the crockpot.
Add the butter pats, smoked paprika and black pepper.
Pat the chicken dry with papertowls. Place the chicken in a bowl, season with as much black pepper as you like and add the entire packet of onion seasoning. Using a gloved hand mixer and toss the chicken to ensure all pieces are evenly coated.
Place the chicken on the onions.
Pour in the chicken broth and French onion soup. Add the garlic and heavy cream.
Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 5-6 hours.
When the chicken is tender add the gruyere cheese and Swiss Cheese. Cover again and cook until the cheeses are melted. 15-30 minutes more.
Serve over mashed potatoes, rice or noodles. Garnish with the parsley.
