Why is Napa so expensive? For starters, it’s small. Napa Valley is only about 30 miles long and a few miles wide, with just over 45,000 acres planted to vines. Add in steep hillside vineyards that require hand-harvesting, lower yields for quality, expensive land prices, meticulous winemaking, aging in new French oak… and then layer on global demand for Napa Cabernet.

This is just a clip from a much longer breakdown where I unpack Napa’s past, present, and future. Full discussion is up now on YouTube!
