These words don’t have an exact English equivalent:

* Les retrouvailles
The emotional joy of seeing someone again after time apart. More than a reunion. It’s the feeling.

* Le terroir
The land, the climate, the tradition, the culture – all influencing food and wine. English literally borrowed the French word.

* Le dépaysement
That disorienting-but-exciting feeling of being somewhere completely different. Not just culture shock. Not just travel vibes. Both.

The concepts exist in English.

But the language doesn’t package them the same way.
And that’s why learning French changes how you think.
