This simple but delicious French Apple Cake is perfect when apple season arrives 🍎✨
Moist, buttery, and filled with chunks of fresh apples, this traditional French cake has a soft texture that melts in your mouth. A touch of rum makes it perfect for special occasions but it’s just as comforting as a weeknight treat with tea or coffee.
🍎 French Apple Cake – Method 🍎
1️⃣ In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
2️⃣ In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs until foamy. Add the sugar, unsalted melted butter, milk, rum, and vanilla extract.
3️⃣ Whisk until everything is well combined and smooth.
4️⃣ Gradually stir in the flour mixture until just incorporated.
5️⃣ Gently fold in the apple slices, making sure they’re evenly distributed in the batter.
6️⃣ Pour the batter into a greased casserole tray or cake pan.
Sprinkle the top lightly with additional sugar for a delicate crust, if desired.
7️⃣ Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 40–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
8️⃣ Let the cake cool in the pan for about 20 minutes before removing.
Serve warm or at room temperature, and dust with confectioners’ sugar before serving.
