I’d call it farmers’ market energy — that pride, passion, and care for what people sell and make. You definitely see it in pockets elsewhere, but what stands out in France is how common it is. You don’t have to seek it out at special markets; it’s woven into everyday life across France, in small shops and local businesses. Ironically, the only place that really loses that feeling is the supermarket — the most impersonal food experience in France, and the one that feels the most imported.
