About us,

We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.

The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.

Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.

Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK and Escape to rural France to restore this beautiful building to its former glory.

  1. There seems to be a piece of the gold missing on the top of the wall on the left side of the fire place just above the window I don't know if it just a reflection on the camera or if Ash is still making it . The room is just amazing especially the marble and ceilings

  2. And I was so waiting for the amazing tape removal above the freshly painted skirting boards….😂❤

  3. So enjoying the art and design process of bringing this room to life, Terry you are agenius! It's beautiful already, can't wait to see it finished xxx

  4. Oh, Bambu Lab, what fabulous machines! I've printed a French Renaissance clock too, a tool to help me unlock my petrol cap. I daren't say how many mouldings I've made for my non-chateau home 🤣

  5. This is honestly the only room in your entire chateau that I wanted to see renovated because of the date that it was in previously with the moldy walls and everything just looking very much like when you originally purchased it. What you have already accomplished and what you're continuing to do for this room is mind-blowing! This chateau needed you guys so badly, you guys are absolute rescuers. I wish everybody had access to you just to bring life back the way you are.

  6. When you said you can create anything from a photo the next thing will be a bust of each of you to display on mantle pieces

  7. Amazing work! After you finish the chateau, you should become decorators for hire! You would make a fortune! Your creativity is endless. The skirting boards look fabulous too!

  8. ive an idea, with your curtain poles, for the swags what terry mentioned, the flat part of the pole holders why dont yous cut some plywood to the length of the windows and put the swags from that be a lot easier to do plus its hidden, ply on top screwed into the pole holders id use small zebra screws they have a much firmer grip, yous have done great work, love the skirting boards looks fantastic, remember as ive said before ash lock terry away in that cupboard, just let him out to eat and then lock him back into it, just think of your bank balances hahaha see tracey is doing fantastic work as always, she puts a few of my trade worker mates to shame, keep the videos coming

  9. When you show the progress inside and then switch to a drone shot of the garden, I get emotional! It’s all very beautiful and magical. ❤ And what a lovely addition to the community.

  10. Terry, Ash and Tracy , whoa, you all are making all of the right decisions for the grand dame (château). From day one to now, it is what anyone would call a miracle with how the château has the from a dilapidated building to a Great Dame! You are all talented in so many, many ways, and watching how you use those talents, well it is an honor to watch.

  11. Hi first post on YouTube ever.. Have you considered painting your columns with gesso before painting as it looks and feels like plaster.

  12. The room is magnificent!! Truly a real labor of love. You are going to blow your guests away when they see your creativity!! A true work of art!
Thank you so much for sharing the process with us. Can't wait to see the completed room. WOW!💕

  13. WOW WOW WOW – beyond words! The ceiling looks amazing Terry! The framing of the murals looks even better. I never doubted your vision. The marbling of the skirt boarding looks so real – great work by you Terry & Vivian’s help & advise. Can’t wait for the rest of the work to be completed in these rooms.

  14. I can’t say enough about the wonderful work you guys have done. This is so amazing words can’t describe. I love your videos but most importantly your talents to do anything that comes up!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

  15. I am so on your page with the marble effect. I might be biased since our Swedish "wooden castles" (Hälsingegårdar) from the province Hälsingland, are a painted effect galore. Marble effects, stone effects, paint and fabrics, all of it. Hälsingegårdar are on Unesco's world heritage list so that proves, you can't go wrong with paint effects.. I love what you have done, what you do and probably what you will do in the future! 😉

  16. …it has been many months, years and weeks and still the long suffering Tracy continues to soldier on stripping and sanding the doors…..🤣🤣🤣🤣😂

  17. You made me gasp in delight when the grande salon was just blue, now you're about to give me a heart attack when I see what it looks like at this point. I'm in awe and so depressed because I will be in Paris this summer for a short stay and won't have time to make a journey to see it in person. BTW, to the naysayers about the plastic moldings, you can be sure that if the tech was available back in the day they would have been using it. You're all just amazing! Michael

  18. Good evening Terry and Ash. I shall like to do things on a 3D printer. Terry and Ash can give classes on video as a new series in You Tube after completing the renovation at Lalacelle. I will stand first in the row to subscribe for the course.
Well done with the skirtings. That marble effect looks stunning!
Yes Terry, the pillars will look great, smart and very grand if you do marble effect on them as well!
When will be the final reveal of the grand salon, furnished at all, curtains ,object d' Art as well, completed with all things bright and beautiful?
So long for now and greetings from RSA!

  19. You are doing a fantastic job! That skirting board is a work of art in itself. Well done to Tracy for all her hard work removing all the paint from those doors. ❤

  20. I admire your bravery trying out this faux marble. Lot of work for an experiment. i once read that the baroque faux marble was actually often artificial stone that was molded from a lime base with streaks of color in it. There is still a real master in Bavaria doing this – he has some (German) Youtube videos. What I also learned that in the 1700s faux marble often was more expensive than real one. incredible, no?

  21. Honestly the plastic makes more sense. It will last forever. Wood and plaster crack over time. Like you said in the past, if they could have done it when it was built they would have used plastic as well! You do you boo!!! Bravo!!
