RESERVATIONS:
• Je voudrais faire une réservation – I’d like to make a reservation
• Je voudrais réserver une table – I’d like to reserve a table
• Pour combien de personnes? – For how many people?
• Pour deux personnes – For two people
• Pour quelle heure? – For what time?
• Pour vingt heures – For 8pm (24-hour time!)

ARRIVAL:
• Bonsoir! – Good evening! (ALWAYS greet first!)
• J’ai une réservation – I have a reservation
• À quel nom? – Under what name?
• Au nom de Dupont – Under the name Dupont
• Suivez-moi, s’il vous plaît – Follow me, please

ORDERING FOOD:
• La carte, s’il vous plaît – The menu, please
• Le menu, s’il vous plaît – The menu, please
• Vous êtes prêt à commander? – Ready to order?
• Qu’est-ce que vous recommandez? – What do you recommend?
• Quelle est la spécialité de la maison? – What’s the specialty?

MEAT PREPARATION:

DIETARY NEEDS:

DURING THE MEAL:

THE BILL:

• Ensemble ou séparé? – Together or separate?

CULTURAL RULES:
• ALWAYS say Bonjour/Bonsoir when arriving
• ALWAYS use “vous” with waiters (never tu!)
• Say “je voudrais” or “je prends” (NEVER “je veux” – too rude!)
• Bread is FREE in France – ask for more!
• Tip is included but small extra is appreciated
• Don’t rush – French dining takes time!
