Just an FYI, you can use your passport,passport card, or global entry card. These are acceptable forms of identification if your real ID doesn't come before you decide to travel.

I’m pretty sure that you don’t necessarily need it. It would be easier to have it, but you can get through TSA without it but you have to pay something unless that was just a limited time thing.
I don't know what state you're in but a few tips with the real id- 1. Show up at LEAST an hour if not an hour and a half before the DMV opens (the real id line took me four hours and I showed up thirty minutes early) 2. It took me longer than they told me to get my ID by about two weeks so plan accordingly) I hope this helps I mean well best of luck

If you have a passport you should be ok. Illinois made it mandatory for the real ID unless you have a passport and/or passport card.
