Plus, they are a prebiotic and have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

French onion soup recipe:

-6-7 onions
-6-8 cups beef or chicken broth
-2 garlic cloves
-1/2 cup white wine
-1 bay leaf
-1/2-1 Tspn. thyme
-olive oil
-butter
-salt and pepper

Thinly slice your onions and add them to a pot with a bit of olive oil and butter. Cook on low heat until the onions are brown.

Add the white wine and cook for a few minutes to allow the alcohol to evaporate.

Add the bay leaf, thyme, garlic and broth and continue to cook on low-medium heat for 20 to 30 minutes.

Serve with grated cheese and toast.
