At the Wine Paris event, a local winemaker representing Château Saint-Louis and Costières de Nîmes gifted French President Emmanuel Macron a bottle of ‘For Sure’ wine, inspired by his viral look at the Davos Summit.
Footage shows the winemaker handing the bottle, adorned with aviator sunglasses and a red tie, to Macron, who smiled and laughed at the playful gesture.
“It’s a bit of last-minute improv,” the winemaker said. “With this, we hope to relaunch rosé in the U.S., and we’re counting on your support.”
Macron highlighted the significance of the occasion in a social media post: “When the world thinks of wine, they think of France. It reflects our expertise, history, traditions, and landscapes, and it’s also a source of international pride as a major export.”
The gift nods to Macron’s viral moment at last month’s World Economic Forum in Davos, where he delivered a speech wearing mirrored aviator sunglasses while reportedly dealing with an eye condition.—
