A local winemaker, representing Chateau Saint-Louis and Costieres de Nimes, gifted French President Emmanuel Macron the ‘For Sure’ wine on Monday at the Wine Paris event, inspired by his Davos Summit look.

Footage shows the winemaker handing over the bottle to the French President, as it bore aviator sunglasses and a red tie. Macron can also be seen smiling and laughing at the sight of the gift.

‘It’s a bit of last-minute improv,” the winemaker remarked. “We believe that with this, we can relaunch rosé in the United States with your support. We’re counting on your support around here.”

In a social media post, Macron spoke about the importance of the event, saying: “When the world thinks of wine, they think of France.”

“It represents pride in our expertise. It’s part of our history, of our traditions. It is also part of our landscapes, of what makes our regions what they are. Furthermore, it’s a source of international pride because it is an export powerhouse,” he added.

During the World Economic Forum in Davos last month, Macron delivered a speech while wearing mirrored aviator sunglasses, which went viral online. Reports indicate that the French president was suffering from an ‘eye condition’.
