When I started collecting wine decades ago, one question mattered more than anything else:
how do you choose wines you’ll truly enjoy — both young and after years in the cellar — without spending a fortune?

Over the years, I’ve bought a number of Bordeaux wines at relatively reasonable prices that have given me immense pleasure, both early on and after long ageing. In this video, I share three Left Bank Bordeaux wines that have aged beautifully and that I still happily open with friends and family today.

These are wines I’ve owned, cellared, and opened many times, and they offer a compelling combination of character, balance, and long-term value.

🍷 Wines featured from my cellar:
00:52 Château Malescot-St-Exupéry — Margaux (2008)
02:35 Clos du Marquis — Saint-Julien (2005)
03:55 Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste — Pauillac (2005)
06:01 How to Choose between Them

For each wine, I look at:
– how it has evolved with age
– how it was priced when I bought it compared with today
– and what makes it such a reliable choice at the table

All three come from the Médoc, and all remain wines I’m delighted to order on a restaurant list or open at home for relaxed, enjoyable gatherings.

I also explain how I’d choose between them depending on the mood, the food, and the occasion — whether I’m looking for generosity, balance, or classic Pauillac structure.
