  4. New Orleans (and south Louisiana in general) is absolutely a very concentrated example of the "melting pot" idea we all learned about in American History classes in middle school. New Orleans and Baton Rouge became pretty major port cities back in the day, when ships were the only way goods and people got around. So we ended up with a pretty diverse population. Which, only made our culture and food better, in my opinion.

  6. As a NOLA resident I just want to thank you to chef Mbaye for creating an absolute gem of a restaurant with Dakar! It’s still the best new spot to open in the city these last few years, and a tasting menu experience that even tops the Omakase at Nagomi (very different, of course). I’ve been to Dakar at least ten times since it opened and have been blown away each time!
