Let’s have an honest conversation.
Do you actually know what Jurançon Sec is?
Most people do not. And that is exactly why this wine is such a great opportunity.
Jurançon sits in the far southwest of France in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Historically, the region was known for sweet wines made from Petit Manseng. But over the last couple of decades, the dry whites from this area have quietly become some of the most compelling and best value wines in France.
This is Yura Jurançon Sec 2023, made by a cooperative of local growers focused on producing clean, bright, ridiculously drinkable wines from classic regional varieties. The blend is 60% Gros Manseng and 40% Petit Manseng, and it is made in stainless steel to keep the wine fresh, aromatic, and focused.
In the glass, this wine is vibrant and engaging. Pear, peach, and stone fruit jump out immediately, followed by floral notes and a subtle exotic spice. There is richness here, but it stays clean and bright. The warmth of the region gives the wine shoulders, while the natural acidity of Manseng keeps everything tight and energetic.
The finish is bone dry with a gentle peppery snap that keeps you reaching for another sip. It has the core of what would make a great sweet wine, but expressed here in a dry, refreshing, incredibly food friendly style.
This wine earned 97 points at the Decanter World Wine Awards in a blind tasting. That matters. No labels. No hype. It simply performed.
At $16.98, this is one of the tastiest under $20 French white wines in the store right now and one of the easiest buys we have for anyone who wants something different, delicious, and way above its price.
If you like discovering wines before everyone else does, this is exactly your kind of bottle.
