In this video, I test five kitchen gadgets that all had very mixed reviews online. Some worked far better than expected, one felt genuinely risky to use, and one divided opinion depending on how it was used. From a wine saver pump to a breading bowl that looks slightly ridiculous, I put each one through real-world tests to see what actually works and what doesn’t.
This is part of my ongoing kitchen gadget testing series, where I try unusual, viral, and everyday tools properly so you can decide whether they’re worth your money or better left in the drawer.

Oh! You've got a Back to the Future mug! I've got a Back to the Future mug too! Same design on it but a different shape XD
One of my best mugs 😀
When I fry stuff up I prefer to do it by hand so I can really press the breadcrumbs into whatever I'm doing and can get more to coat and stick better
Barry should be sponsored by sainsbo’s at this point, always seeing a carrier back or Stamford street food making an appearance in videos
20:16 that hasselback cutter seems great if you want to crush vegetables for salsa, and it may be the best mashed potato maker ever 🤣😂🤣😂
29:15 I know some bar and restaurants use a similar type of wine keeper for their wines by the glass, not every time, but at the end of the night they will use it if there are partial bottles so they will still be good for a couple days. I used to have a different type one that was designed for champagne bottles as well that had an additional thing that sort of hooked under the lip of the bottle to ensure it stayed in place against the carbonation, and it apparently worked well, I don’t really drink champagne but my ex did and said it worked, especially considering a unsealed bottle of champagne will definitely be flat by the next day
Aubergine? That looks like an eggplant to me.

I would say that Hasselback tool is more of a hassle that would be best sent back. Very dangerous and I have seen you use ones that were actually better. I think there might be better ones than ones you have tried so far but I'm not sure. The wine savers I would say I wouldn't use since I normally reuse the original cork or cap that was on/in the bottle with no problems. For the shaker I wonder if a plastic zip top bag would do just as good if not better than that tub. The bag squeezer I think could have been better but not bad. I do wonder though…was it meant to be on the fridge since it had the magnet instead of putting it in a drawer? I think if so, they could have made it more stylish since it would be regularly seen in most cases.
The wine sealer is for non carbonated wines. It’s a vacuum pump.
You haven't seen a streamer basket…? While admittedly fun, and cool looking, not exclusive to that brand, they've been around for ages…
Boston is such an old boy… I have senior dogs, myself… The slow moving, but still happy personality reminds us that there is going to come a day when they won't be with us 🙁
6:12 you can filter for model type in the Amazon reviews . To only show the one you want. Great for sneaky combined listings like the steamer
People buying garbage like steamer baskets when sieves exist. Its a mad world… the people who bought more than one regularly are worrying. They walk among us! haha
For the breader : It is logic that if you shake this like crazy, you will loose breading. if you put finer breading together with more coarse breading… the food will take the finer one first… and then can not grip to the coarse breding anymore… and then you shake it… and loose even mor coarse breading.
1:45 "Bung" was originally an Aboriginal word that has worked its way into the Australian vernacular. It means "dead" or "broken", and I find it amusing used in any other context. 🤪
I have the J&J steamer basket but plastic. And it works super well
people in the 18th century knew they need water to make steam engines, 2026 , morons dont know anything
We’ve got a wine bottle pump (had it for years) and use it all the time because it really does help preserve the wine. The necks of some bottles are wider than others and it seems to be immaterial whether or not it’s a cork or screw top. More often than not you just have to pump for longer to get the looser ones to seal (ByeYah!).
Chinese chopsticks squeeze out of the bag better and stay clean themselves and your hands too.
steamed vegetables are done when they turn a brighter color. doesn't take very long. people in the reviews need to stay away from the stove.
Who the hell leaves a bottle of wine on the side for several days? Lmao. They don’t last more than 2 hours in this house 😂
Thanks for the video Barry
You should put links to your review videos in your amazon reviews ✌
The better batter gadget, I think I saw people use it for blooming onions and liked it pretty well for that. But I could be remembering s different gadget.
Omg the first one, I had one of those for almost 14 years & never used it, it got thrown out this summer when I cleaned out my kitchen in preparation for it getting a renovation. Ah what a blast from the past of drunker & younger me who was convinced she would need it, but I mostly bought cheap wines with screwcaps & the few times I bought something fancier like prosecco I had guests & it gotten devoured so no need to use this kind of gadget. Now I am older, more sober & slightly wiser realising it was a waste of money to buy it. But if you are really into wines or make your own this gadget could be usefull.
I am using this steaming thing for years an love it! ut I dBon`t understand the point of the silicone parts shown. Can somebody help?
The comment about brushing your teeth reminded me of a story my mum told me about about my parent's honeymoon in majorca in 1971. They were told not to drink the hotel water, so they bruae their teeth with cava. 🤣
Ooh, are those Nissin Noodles any good? I like Koka noodles and I'm always on the hunt for the real deal. 😊
So very glad you went with one of the Nissin Soba noodle pots and not pot noodle, they're SO much better.
Gremlin with west country accent!! 😂😂😂😂
Love my Swedish dish cloths. I've used 'em for years. Has really helped me reduce the amount of paper towels being used.
