This wine should not be this good. But it is.

Château Ferrière sits directly next door to Château Margaux. Not in the general area. Not nearby. Literally adjacent vineyards with the same deep gravel soils that define one of the greatest terroirs in Bordeaux.

Ferrière is a Third Growth Margaux owned by the Villars family and run by Claire Villars Lalande, who also oversees Château Haut Bages Libéral. After a brutal 2013 vintage that wiped out much of the Merlot crop, Claire committed fully to organic and biodynamic farming. By 2015 both estates were certified, and the results are impossible to miss.

The 2020 Château Ferrière is a classic Margaux blend led by Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. It is aged in a mix of new oak, one year oak, and large format foudres, which brings polish without masking the fruit.

In the glass, this wine delivers everything you want from Margaux. Deep color. Aromatics of violets, currants, and plum. Silky, seamless tannins. Power wrapped in elegance. It is sensual, refined, and unmistakably Margaux in character.

This is not a lean or underpowered Bordeaux. The 2020 vintage brings richness and depth, yet the wine remains balanced and composed. The structure is there for aging, but it is already dangerously drinkable.

Here is the kicker.

This wine often sells for $55 to $70 in the market. We are offering it for $43.

For a classified growth Margaux, farmed biodynamically, made by one of the smartest producers in Bordeaux, from vineyards next door to Château Margaux, this price is absurd.
