Ingredients (for 2 servings)

2 French baguettes (fresh or lightly toasted)
300 g chicken fillet (breast or thigh without skin)
1 tomato
½ cucumber (fresh)
Lettuce leaves (iceberg, romano or mix)
50 g hard cheese (such as cheddar or parmesan)
2 tbsp. mayonnaise or sour cream
1 tsp. mustard (optional)
Salt, pepper, spices – to taste
Oil – for frying

Preparation
1. Preparing the chicken
Cut the chicken fillet into thin strips or cubes.
Marinate in a mixture of salt, pepper and spices (paprika, dried garlic, a little curry).
Fry in a heated frying pan with a small amount of oil until golden brown (about 5-7 minutes).

2. Prepare other ingredients
Cut tomatoes and cucumbers into circles or half rings.
Grate cheese or cut into thin slices.
Wash and dry salad.

3. Prepare sauce
Mix mayonnaise (or sour cream) with mustard. You can add a drop of lemon juice or garlic for flavor.

4. Assemble baguette
Cut baguette lengthwise, without cutting all the way through (to open a “pocket”).
Spread sauce on the inside.
Layer: salad, chicken, vegetables, cheese.
If desired, add a little more sauce on top.

5. Final preparation
If desired, warm up a little in the oven or on the grill (2–3 min) so that the cheese melts slightly.

Tips

You can add caramelized onions, pickles, avocado or jalapeños for a brighter flavor.
You can replace the chicken with smoked, grilled or even chicken nuggets.
