Raphaël Bas is a New Orleans-based guitarist and harmonica player renowned for blending French gypsy swing with traditional New Orleans jazz. Originally from Bourges, France, he was influenced by the diverse musical styles showcased at the Printemps de Bourges music festival, where he first performed internationally at the age of 15.
In New Orleans, Raphaël leads the ensemble Harmonouche, a name that reflects a fusion of “harmonica” and “manouche” (the French term for gypsy). The band delivers a unique sound by combining world-class musicianship with a good dose of humor. Their repertoire includes original compositions and interpretations of jazz classics.
