Paris is known as the City of Light, but according to Joe Keery, Finn Wolfhard almost took that nickname too literally. During a hilarious interview with GQ at the Louis Vuitton Men’s Fall-Winter 2026 show on January 20, 2026, Keery revealed that his Stranger Things “little brother” nearly burned down their shared rental during a chaotic night in Paris.
The “Scented Candle” Incident
The incident reportedly occurred on January 19, the night before the major Vuitton show. Keery, known for his laid-back “cool uncle” energy, recounted the story while laughing at a visibly embarrassed Wolfhard.
The Setup: The duo decided to host a small “pre-show” gathering at their luxury Airbnb. Wolfhard, wanting to “set the vibe,” decided to light a series of expensive, oversized scented candles.
The Mishap: One of the candles placed precariously near a stack of designer lookbooks and some flowing linen curtains tipped over while the group was in the other room debating the Stranger Things finale.
The Save: Keery says he walked back into the lounge to find the curtains “actively smoldering.”
The Quote: “I walk in, and Finn is just standing there with a glass of expensive French wine, completely oblivious that the drapes are starting to go up,” Keery joked. “I had to tackle him and the curtain at the same time. He’s officially forbidden from lighting anything but a birthday candle from now on.”
Paris Fashion Week 2026: The “Hawkins” Takeover
The “house fire” hasn’t dampened their spirits, as the Stranger Things cast has been the main attraction of the January 2026 fashion circuit.
The “Brotherly” Bond
The fire story is just the latest example of the tight-knit bond between the two actors. In recent 2026 interviews, Wolfhard has called Keery his “North Star,” creditng him with helping him navigate his transition from child star to serious musician and director.
”Joe is the only person I’d trust to put out a fire I started,” Wolfhard quipped during the Vuitton after-party. “Literally and figuratively.”
