Hey there, Sweetaholics 🍎🥧
It’s a cold, dreary January day—the kind that calls for the oven to be on and something warm, buttery, and comforting baking away. Today, let’s make an easy French Apple Tart from scratch. Simple ingredients, cozy aromas, and just the right touch of sweetness to brighten the day.
✨ French Apple Tart (From Scratch) ✨
Ingredients
For the Tart Dough:
• 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
• 1 tablespoon sugar
• ¼ teaspoon salt
• 8 tablespoons cold butter, cubed
• ¼ cup + 1 tablespoon ice water
For the Apple Tart:
• 3–4 apples (Honeycrisp works beautifully, but use what you love)
• ¼ cup butter, cubed
• ¼ cup sugar
Instructions
1. Make the pastry:
In a food processor, pulse flour, sugar, and salt. Add cold butter and pulse until pea-sized. Add ice water and pulse until crumbly but holds when pinched. Don’t have a food processor? Do it the old school way: a bowl, a fork, & a ton of grit. 😜 Turn the dough onto a tea towel, gather the corners, and twist into a round.
2. Roll & chill:
Roll dough into a 12–13 inch round on a floured surface. Transfer to a tart pan with a removable bottom, trim edges, and freeze for 30 minutes.
3. Prep the apples:
Preheat oven to 425°F. Slice apples thinly and fan them in any pattern you like over the chilled crust.
4. Bake:
Sprinkle evenly with sugar and dot with butter. Bake 35–40 minutes, checking at 15 minutes. Lower to 400°F if browning too quickly. Optional: finish with convection for extra caramelization.
5. Serve:
Enjoy warm or at room temperature—simple, rustic, and oh-so-satisfying.
💛 Sweet Monday Reminder:
Pour yourself your favorite cup of tea or coffee, cut a generous slice, and savor the moment. Life feels softer with a little sweetness—always add some to your day.
