  1. You can save lids off of parmesan cheese shakers and they will fit in mason jars. Then you would have a shaker top.

  2. I organized my spices and shelf with you as well and it’s so much better! I did almost put cumin in with the cinnamon! 😮That would have been an alarming mistake discovered later if I hadn’t caught it. Yikes!

  3. As far as any info needed on the new jars like the expiration date, I use black electricians tape and an erasable chalk marker and put a piece on the back of each jar and write the date. It wipes off easily for the next expiration date and the writing isn’t inside the lid where the spice is and the ink can mix and adding the ink to the food.

  4. I ended up going the mason jar route for my spices and purchased those stainless steel shaker attachments. I cook sooo much. I use up an entire 12oz mason jar of salt and pepper within 1½ months. So, having a tiny spice container isn't practical for me 😂 I converted a corner breadbox into my spice rack, since mason jars dont fit in drawers very aesthetically or functionally.

  5. What if you just change the labels on the large spices. I think all the color is the problem. If they had plain labels they wouldn't stand out.

  6. Because I am the only one that cooks, I don't label anything. I am such a minimalist in my aesthetic that having labels and words everywhere overwhelms me. 😂 Why am I a teacher again? LOL. I can tell what's what just my how they look. I can tell between my oat and tapioca and almond flour. I can tell between my cumin and cinnamon and clove, etc etc.

  7. 12:49 They do. I know you will probably cringe at this, but I purchased my off-brand stainless steel shaker tops from Temu. Between $1-$1.25 per. So I bought 16 for less than $20. You can remove the silicone O-ring for a 100% plastic free option, as well, which is what I did.

  8. Use a paper cone. It adjusts to the size of the opening soooo easily. Great Job! Use the "leftovers" first.

  9. A funnel made from cardstock would work well for dry spices, could customize the opening to fit your jars which would make filling go a little faster. Also, Amazon has sets of shaker tops for Mason jars…both the regular & wide mouth.

  10. Andrea, the shaker lids fit perfectly on the smaller canning jars. I use them as well for Parmesan cheese, chia seeds, sesame seeds etc. wish I could send you a photo.

  11. Peel the clear labels off the big spice containers and print a new label that matches your smaller ones. Beautiful home 🙂

  12. Love this organising video. I store my onions, potatoes, garlic in drawastring bags and then store them in a basket

  13. I got spice jars like that for my bridal shower and ran into all the same exact problems you did 😂 I ended up with half aesthetic jars and half of the same old store bought containers

  14. I use mason jars as well. I buy my organic spices from Azure Standard in bulk and just keep filling the small mason jars.

  15. You could turn the big plastic spice containers around and make those nice machine labels for the blank side. But I think they look fine as is 😉

  16. Also, maybe for now, you can just peel the store label off your large plastic spice containers, and put a nicer, more uniform label on them, like the ones you used for the smaller jars.
