I’m still sad about you turning it into a hotel but I’m happy you are restoring (a/k/a, saving) the chateau for future generations by being as responsible as possible with the spaces…..but just remember, you are still going to need internal storage areas (with a property that size) for storing furniture, rugs, draperies, large amounts of bulky linens, along with hotel toiletries, plus large amounts of cleaning supplies, several vacuums, upholstery steam cleaners, linen presses, ladders, buckets, etc., etc., so it would be wise to keep a very large room for this purpose that could be divided into category sections all on the upper level, instead of hauling this type of stuff up the stairs from all the way in the basement……which is where you will also need a vast storage space too for food, (both fresh & frozen), wine & champagne, along with an unbelievable amount of table wear, plus cooking equipment. All the behind the scenes equipment that go into making a hotel (with staff) work!
Chateau tshirts… “Put them in the Attic!” 😂
Just saw the “ torture chamber lamp” in an American home on another home show. 😅
I don't know if it could be of any inspiration. But check out "Ett Hem". It's a boutique hotel in Stockholm. Very homely feel with lots of cool interior details. It's not a chateau but nevertheless. Probably inspiring.
Italy is keen on furniture design …
Wow, that's a lot of work. Look forward to seeing it all unfold. It will be amazing and so nice that the chateau will be full of people. Xx
Me eye balling the jug on the right hand side of the screen 😻
The attic roof is soo high, you might consider adding another level for general hotel storage / service area if it’s possible? Such as linens and towels, laundry etc.
You can clean the metal rust off the chair using a piece if wet aluminum foil
Exciting times. Good luck.😊
It’s good to see you so excited. I’m a little worried that adding as many rooms as you are planning to the Chateau may compromise the overall guest experience (more noise, more clutter, less personalized attention) and create way more work (cleaning, laundering, maintenance, late-night problem-solving) than you might anticipate.
I think you’re absolutely right getting as many rooms as possible in the outbuildings. But the chateau is very special, and I think people would pay a premium to stay in a room that’s beautifully restored within a house that’s calm and relaxing.
I hope I’ll be able to visit!
I think we have some refurbishing projects on the horizon – chairs and lamps!
Large rooms with lofts would be so cool in the attic
If you can fix up the wardrobe/cupboard's interior it would be a pretty piece of furniture for the attic bedrooms
🙋♀️❤️. I'm rolling up my sleeves! It's going to be beautiful! I wonder if you will have some staff living on site. Have you considered a small Elevator?
Really very curious to know more about the sound proofing granules under floor boards please. Is it possible to know the system and / or product name. Many thanks
Will you have staff that live on site and if so where will they live?
Snow is Magic!
Where do you live now?
Someone needs to come up with a seasonal travel company and plan (spring through fall) so we Americans (or anyone else) to tour through and stay overnight at the Chateaus of France. Pick a route that connects all the chateaus we follow (and some we don’t) so we can actually enjoy in person ALL the destinations we are clamoring to visit.
The paddle would have been nice in a man’s room, lounge, smoking area???
I think time lapses are fun. Lovely paneling. Fun to see the things in the attic. Good day/time to work/organize the attic.
Great plans. How exciting!
the unfinished attic looks straight out of a fairytlae novel
If you don't have a definite use for an item, it's a good idea to donate it; someone else will love it and use it =)
Oh, they're tiles–I was wondering what the floor was. Seems odd to me to have a heavier material like that on top of all the wood below.
I think if the hotel is linked to experiential offerings like art & printmaking / cooking /woodworking / gardening / video-making classes, workshops, weekends etc., (which would mean creating a classroom space probably in the carriage house)….. that would make your hotel very popular!
I think your plans will be wonderful .
In Finland we put the "granules" on commercial buildings as well for isolation
Super cool ❤❤
The white jug with metal handle can be remade into a lampfoot.
The drawer piece can be made into tool storage.
The cuppard can be made into a linnen closet. Just install more shelves and paint it. If you find a piece of broken of wooddecoration, you can ad that to uplift the visual appeal.
Looks like fun cleaning up the attic. Beautiful space!
9:32 That cupboard reminds me of the cabinet from Harry Potter where you open it and your greatest fear/s appear and the Hogwart students would say "stupify" as they wave their wands 😅
I love your plans. I wonder if you could use transom windows for cross lighting in the hallway you are going to create in the attic. Looking forward to your new adventure! ❤
Greetings from România. I assure you that that chair is made in România. In the Transilvania region,
we have many charis like that, more ore less similar.😊
I would work out with the village church and start doing weddings, use the chateau as a wedding venue for receptions, and for the wedding party to stay and get ready in. The carriage house is perfect for the honeymoon suite. You could bring the chateau into the most special and important days for many couples. Which could also bring those guests back for romantic anniversaries etc. I believe it could bring in extra business during the summer months, particularly for outdoor weddings or church weddings and receptions. It would be a perfect setting for magical memories. Just a thought. You have the most beautiful property to make some special memories to so many people.
Have you thought about an insulation on the outside of the timber? If you take the roof down anyway, you can put the insulation on top of the beautiful timberframe and keep it visible from the inside. (auf deutsch Aufdachdämmung)
Das wird ja sehr schön und sehr geschmackvoll👍🏽👍🏽
Das wird ja ganz super schön❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ah Chateau you are not fiction after all.

My husband and I live in the US, we have been watching your channel for a while. We started watching about 1 year or less after you started your channel. We enjoy it so much. And we are excited to see the results of the next renovation journey. Thank you so much for sharing with us.
Love tha chairs! The black one is a "thonet" chair in a way. The company expanded their production from Germany and Austro-Hungarian Empire to several european countries during the 20th century. Independent companies could also produce "unlincenced" bentwood pieces after the original Thonet patent expired.
We had a prominent thonet production in Kamnik, Slovenia through the 20th century also. Our legendary architect and industrial furniture designer Niko Kralj built on that knowledge to design Rex and Lupina (Shell) chairs produced by Stol Kamnik.
The metal and cane chair is a Cesca chair, renamed Cesca after Italian company took over the production from Thonet. They were also produced by Stol Kamnik. 😅
Sorry about the essay. I just love this type of furniture since it's so prominent and nostalgic to us in Slovenia.
The torture chamber chandelier could be used as an armature for seasonal plant material dec0rations. You could wreaths interwoven with the frame. It could be done hat way indoors or out.
