We cracked open two reds from the Vintrepid Discovery Pack to find out.
First up: Mercurey Pinot Noir 2022 — a structured, savoury Pinot from Burgundy’s Côte Chalonnaise, with earthy tones, dark plum and mushroomy depth.
Then: Saumur-Champigny Rouge 2023 — rustic, olive tapenade vibes, medium tannins, and old-vine character from one of the Loire Valley’s rising estates.
These are the kinds of wines that prove French regions don’t have to be intimidating — just delicious and full of story.
