His sister was Sally Hemmings. They're mulatto because Thomas Jefferson father in law r3ped his slaves and had Sally Hemmings and her brother. Thomas Jefferson fathered 6 children with Sally
I found put about James Hemmings a few years ago. He was Sally Hemmings half brother. He was the first Black Chef who ever received formal culinary training. He created mac and cheese and this was a remarkable story ❤

James Hemmings went back to the U.S. because his mother and siblings were still there and he did not want to leave them.

James return was not for a strange reason or desire to show off his culinary skills to dignitaries. Thomas Jefferson promised James Hemings freedom upon return to the U.S. from Paris if he would teach his recipes to (an)other slave(s). Jefferson reneged on his promise because he grew too accustomed to Hemings' fine cuisine.
